Who Is The California Fruit Company?

The California Fruit Company is first and foremost a grower and producer of fine organic and conventionally grown fruit. The CFC spurred from Smit Orchards, a family owned and operated 160 acre farm located in Linden, CA in the Central Valley. Both the farm and the CFC are proudly owned and operated by the Smit family.

The idea for the company was birthed for a specific purpose: to provide farm fresh fruit to the people! We gather the freshest fruits available from our farm and local Farmers' Markets and deliver them directly to your office, school or home!

We came from farming and remain in farming. Besides our own farm, we have extensive relationships with local farms and farmers both in Southern California and in the Central Valley. We "grow it and know it" inside and out. We sell our delicious fresh fruit at well known and reputable Farmers' Markets such as the San Francisco Ferry Plaza Market on Saturdays, the Berkeley Farmers' Markets on Tuesday's and Saturdays, the Hillcrest Farmers Market in San Diego, the Pacific Paliscades Farmers' Market in Los Angeles, and many others. We attend over 40 markets every week throughout California. (Over half of them are in San Diego County alone!) We are proud of our heritage and the industry we represent.

We are here because of the demand for CONSISTENT quality fresh fruit. People are ready to eat healthy, tasty and natural food. Fruit is nature's candy and we simply have the best!

A Message from the Chief Fruit Officer

Hello,
I grew up on a family orchard in California’s fertile San Joaquin valley, but when I emerged from college I had other interests besides farming. So I escaped to sunny southern California seeking freedom.

I quickly ran out of money, and to make ends meet I began selling fruit at local farmers’ markets. Because we worked with small orchards, we were able to deliver the very best quality fruit to the markets, and the business took off like wildfire.

One day, a regular customer approached me with an interesting question. Could we deliver the same quality fruit directly to his workplace for his employees to enjoy?

From that simple question, a business was born: The California Fruit Company, SoCal’s first orchard-to-office fresh fruit delivery company.

Why fresh fruit in the workplace?

Because fruit is nature’s healthy energy booster. And it’s delicious! Your employees will be more productive and have more energy throughout the day. Plus, they will know you care about them and will see your company as a great place to work.

First off we are a team. We all have a love for good fruit. Everyone that works at the California Fruit Company has personally participated at the Certified Farmers' Markets. We all know first hand the rewards of seeing people face-to-face buying our fruit because they absolutely love it. It feels good to know our customers appreciate our hard work and dedication to procuring the freshest fruit possible. We think there are some who get 'High' on fruit. Person, Favorite Fruit, Why?

• Paul Smit: Rainier Cherries; Are you kidding me? When they are ripe, which is very hard to tell, they have an amazing sweet and smooth taste. Close second is the Comice Pear.
• Tarah: I love almost any citrus fruit and avocados . Oranges are always refreshing and I love making guacamole!
• David: I love Mangos! I don't know why, I just do! They make me happy.
• Kim:  I like every fruit but if i had to pick one I probably would have to pick the White Peaches.  They are refreshing and can make great pies!
• Matthew M: White Nectarines; They are super sweet. Their texture is very nice and they are more refreshing than a peach. But really it's because they are pale on the outside but sweet in the inside.....just like me!
• Jason:  I am all about organic fruit.  One of the best fruits from the family farm is our organic apples!  They are filled with juice and great flavor.
• Audrey: My favorite fruit is a banana because you can do a lot with it. It's good on ice cream, with chocolate, in pancakes, bread, pie, peanut butter sandwiches and milkshakes!
• Mat: My favorite fruit is a mango because when I eat it I feel like I am on the beach in Mexico.
• Brian S: I like Blood Oranges because the are delicious and good for you. They're also mysterious: no one knows why they are red!
• Bill:  I am a grape man.  I love the red ones especially!
• Alison:  Ummm...if I had to choose one fruit I would say my favorite is the Asian Pear.  They have this sweet taste that I love.
• Brad:  When plums are in season I am all about them!  They can have so much flavor and be very juicy.
