Fruit Basics 11/17/08 Well. I went to the Farmers' Market this weekend to check out how our fruit was doing. I traveled to the Irvine Ca. Farmers' Market which is located next to U.C. Irvine. The market was huge. Lot's of vendors and even more customers. The amazing bounty of fruit that comes out of California truly is amazing and I was reminded of that when I saw the various displays of fruit from a multitude of vendors. This week the California Navel market is beginning to stabilize, though still early. We got some big Navels from a local farm here. Below is a list of this weeks fruit. What’s the difference between a Navel and a Valencia orange. Simple….taste. Navels are almost always sweeter. California’s navels are appreciated throughout the world so enjoy some locally for the next 6 to 7 months.
