Fruit Basic 3/8/10
Even though the weather has been pretty cold lately it doesn’t mean that fruit should be knocked off the menu. I enjoy a cold apple as much as you do, but fruit can be eaten warm as well! Fruit compote can be made out of the pears and apples and it is a lovely complement to dinner after a hard day’s work. Just cut up the fruit and toss in orange juice with cinnamon and allspice, and either cover and microwave or briefly boil it in water and drain. Let it stand for a few minutes and mix in some nuts or dried fruit of your preference. The scent is enough to make you drool and it will warm your body right up! And when it gets to summertime, try the same recipe with peaches and apricots!
This week’s crate contains:
Organic Fuji Apples Granny Smith Apples Organic Pink Lady Apples Mandarin Tangerines D’Anjou Pears Navel Oranges Bananas
