Actually called the Dapple Dandy, these pluots have a striking speckled skin that many folks say resembles a dinosaur egg. They begin green with reddish spots and when they ripen the red begins to come through more vividly. The flesh is sweeter than most plums and so juicy you'll have to change your clothes if you aren't careful. The best part about them is that they are incredibly good no matter when you eat them. They are still super sweet even when they are still green and personally, I like them better when they are firmer. See which way you like them. |
